Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 2 hours 17 minutes
Release Date: August 2, 2019
Director: David Leitch
Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba

Lawman Luke Hobbs (Johnson), and Outcast Deckard Shaw (Statham) work together when a cyber-genetically villain (Elba) threatens to destroy all humanity. Now, I know I'm a little late on theis film, and wasn't planning on seeing it, but even though, as of this post, I have not seen any of the previous Fast and the Furious films, but I thought that this wasn't a bad film. Parents, unless your child is into action films, they probably won't be interested in this film. And if you do take your kids to see it, I'd click here to check the parents guide on IMDB first.

Final Grade:
C+

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hour 51 minutes
Release Date: August 9, 2019
Director: Andre Ovredal
Starring: Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush

This horror flick that is based on the popular book series of the same name, is about a group of friends, who explores a haunted house that was once the home of a young girl with horrible secrets, Sarah Bellows. And those secrets, turned her life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time-stories that becomes all-too real.

This movie is intense, it does have it's moments, and Parents, Many people (including myself) are wondering, who is this movie made for? What is it's target audience? Is it tweens, teens, young adults? Who? But I will tell you this, it's not for your little ones. So, I advise you to not take your little ones to this film. In fact, one YouTube film critic ranked this film on a scary-ness level between Goosebumps and It. So parents, again, I strongly advise you to not take your little ones to this film. But if your older kids are into horror movies, they should be fine.

B

Dora and the lost city of gold

Rated: PG
Runtime: 1 hour 42 minutes
Release Date: August 9, 2019
Director: James Bobin
Starring: Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Pena

Bases on the Nickelodeon cartoon Dora the Explorer, Dora (Moner), faces the greatest adventure in her life, high school. While in high school, her parents mysteriously disappears, and she leads her friends on an adventure to save them, and to solve the mystery behind the lost city of gold.

It's a good enjoyable movie, although I feel the filmmakers were trying to take the Indiana Jones route, and I think kids will have an enjoyable time at the movies with this film. So parents, take them to this movie! I think there's family-fun for everyone!

Final Grade:
B+
