April 2019 film lineup
Okay, here's my film lineup for April of 2019:
Friday, March 29, 2019
Dumbo

Release Date: March 29, 2019
Runtime: 1 hour 52 minutes
Director: Tim Burton
Starring: Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, Michael Keaton, Eva Green
This latest Disney live-action adaptation (and this one's from filmmaker Tim Burton) is about a young circus elephant named Dumbo, who has really big ears which gives him the ability to fly. But, when the circus decides to take on a new venture, he goes on a great adventure of his life, as he and his friends discovers some dark secrets.
I've never seen (or at least remember seeing) the original animated film, so I can't compare it to this version. Parents, All I can say is that, I think your kids will have a good time seeing it, and enjoy it. It's obviously a PG rated Disney film so, expect some family-fun for everyone!

Five Feet Apart

Release Date: March 15, 2019
Runtime: 1 hour 52 minutes
Director: Justin Baldoni
Starring: Cole Sprouse, Haley Lu Richardson
This movie is about two teenagers (Sprouse and Richardson) who are both battling the same genetic, and deadly disease: Cystic Fibrosis. And because of it, they fall in love in a rather unusual way. They can't do anything that most young couples would do because, they are not allowed to be withing five feet of each other. If they do, then they both risk catching each others bacteria.
This movie, is a great movie. It has Oscar worthy material, the acting was fantastic, and I think it'll be along the line of classic romance films like Ghost, and Somewhere in Time (which I admit, I've never seen). Parents, this is obviously a teen-drama film, so I don't your little ones would be interested in it. But, your teens might be. Oh, and there might be some suggestive material in it. I admit, I WILL be seeing this film in theaters again! It was that good! However, I must warn you, that if you plan on seeing it (if you haven't already), you might wanna bring some tissues. If you don't, don't worry, I'm sure your favorite theater will provide some napkins for you. Go see it!

Wonder Park

Release Date: March 15, 2019
Runtime: 1 hour 25 minutes
Featuring: Sofia Mali, Jennifer Garner, Ken Hudson Campbell
This Family-Friendly animated feature is about a young girl name june who, discovers an abandoned amusement park hidden in the woods, she discovers it came from her imagination, and she's the only one who can bring it back to life. This is a wonderfully good movie, and I have found a gospel message hidden in it. Parents, take your kids to it! It's obviously filled it family-fun for everyone!

Captain Marvel

Release Date: March 8, 2019
Runtime: 2 hours, 4 minutes
Directors: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck
Starring: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson
Hard to believe, that this is (I think) the 21st movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set in the 1990's, Carol Danvers (Larson) is an army pilot that teams up with S.H.E.I.L.D. agent Nick Fury (Jackson), and becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes as the earth is caught in a war between two alien races
Although, not the best movie in the MCU, it does have some good moments. There is a little humor in it, I saw it in 3D so the 3D good. However, I do feel that Brie Larson was miscast. Parents, This is obviously a PG-13 rated superhero flick. So, you can expect the usual round of superhero violence in it.
I highly recommend you check the Parents Guide section on imdb.com, before taking your little ones to this film.
Final Grade:
B
Special Note:
I recently heard about an incident that occurred at a screening of this film in Phoenix Arizona, where a black guy was accused of sneaking into the theater without paying for a ticket. But, what he really did was use the bathroom, and got a refill on his drink! As a result, he got kicked out! Here's a link to an article about the incident: https://phoenixinformer.com/126178/arizona-man-racially-profiled-and-kicked-out-of-phoenix-movie-theater-phoenix-video/?fbclid=IwAR0CPF193P7lnNO4R49ni3PIqa7UELOemN07moerxyk9m-MwbDeyq52urYM. Seriously guys, the world that we live in is getting more, and more wicked, and this is a prime example of that! I can't believe that somebody, would get kicked out of a screening of a movie that I reviewed on this blog spot, for no valid reason! What's Wrong with people these days?

March 2019 Flm Lineup

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

Release Date: February 22, 2019
Runtime: 1 hour 44 minutes
Director: Dean DeBlois
Featuring: Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, F. Murray Abraham
In this epic conclusion to the "How To Train Your Dragon" series, Hiccup discovers that Toothless isn't the only night fury in existence. He seeks out a secret dragon utopia that his father once told him called: The Hidden World. But, he must do it before a hired tyrant named Grimmel finds it first.
This is a fairly enjoyable conclusion to a film series and, I saw it in 3D. And the 3D, was really good too. I Streamed the other two films, in order to prepare for this one. Parents, As I always say in my reviews for Family-Friendly movies, There's Family fun for everyone! If you haven't, Take your kids to see it! Better yet, take the whole family! and maybe your friends too!

Alita: Battle Angel

Release Date: February 14, 2019
Runtime: 2 hours 2 minutes
Director: Robert Rodriguez
Starring: Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly
This Sci-Fi action flick that's from Robert Rodriguez (the man behind movies like Spy Kids) and James Cameron (the man behind movies like Avatar, and Titanic) is about a young female cyborg named Alita (Rosa Salazar), that's been brought back to life by a man named Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) after 300 or so years. However, she cannot remember her past life. So, she goes on a quest to find out who she was.
This movie, is a good movie. Not only were the graphics really great but, I saw it in 3D, and the 3D was just absolutely tremendous. Parents, There is a little violence in it so, I wouldn't recommend it to kids under the age of say, 10. Again, this is a really good movie! I encourage all you movielovers out there to see it! 2D or 3D!

Happy Death Day 2U

Runtime: 1 hour 40 minutes
Release Date: February 13, 2019
Director: Christopher Landon
Starring: Jessica Roth, Isreal Broussard, Phi Vu
Following the Events of Happy Death Day, Tree Gelbman discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead. I'd say that this film is not as good as the first one, but I did like it, and just like the first movie, it also tries to get away from being a full-on horror flick. The first movie leaned more toward the horror-themed comedy genre, and this one tends to lean more toward the drama, and Sci-Fi genres.
Parents, I don't know if I should recommend you taking your kids to this film. I mean, there is a bit of violence, language is a bit on the rough side. Your teens might be ok with it but, you little ones may not.
